Local supporting character surprised at own status

Sugarhouse resident Mike Robinson was surprised to learn that he was merely a supporting character in the adventures of his friends and not the protagonist of his own story. "Last Saturday I received a letter from some author telling me that she was considering killing me off for dramatic purposes in her next novel," stated Robinson. "I thought it was a joke at first, then I noticed that the title of the book was going to be ‘Surviving Prague.’ My friend Joseph had invited me to go on a European trip with him this summer. We are staying in Prague for a week. I've always wanted to go to Prague."

Robinson, 28, has experienced many adventures in his life, throughout all of which he thought of himself as the main character. He dated a married woman for awhile until she realized that her heart belonged to her husband. He frequently supported and pined for a tragic girl as she struggled to overcome drug addiction and break free of her overbearing mother. He was good friends with a bass player in a local band as she turned away from studying the occult and learned to embrace Christ.

"Mike is a really great guy," stated Joseph Nelson, Robinson's friend of 20 years. "He's very down to earth and offers great advice. You can always depend on him to be there for you. I never would have overcome my post traumatic stress disorder after returning from Iraq without his help."

Reporters for The Regal Seagull have not been able to contact Geraldine Ellis, the author of “Surviving Prague,” but received the following press release from her publicist. "Arriving Spring of 2009, ‘Surviving Prague,’ the new novel from the acclaimed author of “Turning Back to Christ” and “Joe Don't Live Here No More.” Chief Master Sergeant Joseph Nelson overcame the horrors of war, but how will he overcome the loss of his closest friend?"

Fox Searchlight is currently in pre-production of the film version of “Joe Don't Live Here No More” with Edward Norton scheduled to play the title character. "I heard that Phillip Seymour Hoffman is playing me in the movie," Robinson stated. "That's cool. I really liked him in Magnolia."
